1668: My excitement claims another victim: The Watchmen.

I don't know what's weirder: Yesterday's kerfuffle about how Fox was, apropos of nothing, intent on making it impossible for anyone to ever see (or "watch" - har har!) the Watchmen, or the fact that it was Pete, of all people, who told me about it.

For Pete, I think the situation is like this:

Zack Snyder - Dawn of the Dead = 300
And 300 = FAIL (according to Pete)

And then on the other side, you have Alan Moore = V for Vendetta (kinda/sorta) which (again, according to Pete) = FAIL

Watchmen = [(Zack Snyder - Dawn of the Dead) + (V for Vendetta)] =
EPIC FAIL

That's according to Pete, who despite these misgivings, nevertheless recognized that he would still be going to see Watchmen when it came out in March. But that was before the news that Fox had told Warner Brothers, essentially, "OH NO YOU DIDN'T!" over the matter of distribution rights for the film. Today, it seems, things aren't really that bad. I thought I'd jinxed the whole thing by being excited about it, as seems to often be the unfortunate case for anything on which I get my little heart set. A while back, I thought my excitement might result in the film being disappointing; I didn't quite anticipate it NEVER BEING SHOWN. My ability to curse things had evidently reached new heights! (Or lows?) What would this mean for baby animals, Morrissey, cupcakes, and everything else I love in this world?

False alarm! The movie's back on, so it looks like being the recipient of my love isn't as dooming a fate as it once seemed. That's nice for me but not so nice for Pete, who probably felt blessed that some higher power had relieved him of this weird obligation he hadn't anticipated when he asked me out all those years ago. Naturally, he won't betray any disappointment.

That's because Pete = Dr. Manhattan.
