1662: More bunny trouble.
Although I never really look forward to Sunday nights, I was sort of looking forward to tonight. It was going to be the last time we had to give Dewey his antibiotics, which hasn't been a lot of fun in itself, and once we'd completed 10 days of medicating him, I'd sort of assumed life would go back to normal.
To that end, his appetite has been excellent and his energy has been improving. In the past few days, I really felt like I had my old rabbit back -- he's been acting just like he did before he got sick.
And as I held him tonight, I felt a lump under his stomach.
The weirdest thing about it is that I could have sworn it wasn't there this morning when we gave him his first dose for the day. This little, soft, marble-sized lump on his belly appeared out of nowhere! It feels very soft to the surface, it's very regular in shape, and it moves around easily -- which, based on Pete's research online, seems to indicate it may just be a fatty deposit. Without biopsying it, there's no way of knowing exactly what it is but, obviously, it's nevertheless very concerning.
Had it been there two weeks ago, when he was at the vet, they would have noticed it. And having been handling his stomach daily since then, I'm sure I would have felt it. So, I guess it's not only the fact that it exists but the speed at which it appeared that worries me. Because it moves around so easily, it doesn't seem to be embedded in an intestine or anything -- so what is it?
