1009: OMG
When I got home last night, I received a number of texts from Pete, who was at a friend's office Christmas party. Pete being Pete, he decided to mess with me a little via text message (text messaging being my preferred method of communication).
When he announced that Kanye West had just arrived at the party (later to be dismissed as a lookalike), I actually lost my mind just a little bit. Not that I'm a fan or anything, but something about a person of a certain level of fame makes me flail my hands and squeal like a jerk. Pete had cleverly set up this rouse by telling me earlier in the day that Kanye might show up due to his actually having some connection to the party's host; needless to say, I pretty much bought it.
Then Ed Norton came.
Actually, he didn't, but Pete convinced me he did. For some reason, Ed Norton's being there actually seemed strangely feasible; his being selected was entirely Eng San's suggestion (Pete later told me), and I have to admit, that was kind of a brilliant choice. Again, not that I'm particularly fond of Ed Norton, but he seemed random enough to be semi-feasible. Good job.
Pete lost me when he announced that Lindsay Lohan had arrived. I'm not that gullible, but it was a nice jab, considering how I (unfairly) continually accuse Pete of liking her.
And then "the lead singer of AFI" came! Can you believe it? Of course, he didn't actually come and Pete "couldn't think of his name" and was still enjoying mocking me (doesn't everyone?). As I received this text-of-lies, my rabbit came into the living room runnin' and gruntin' in the way only a rabbit owner will fully understand. Either he heard a weird noise in the hallway or he was psychically upset by Pete's text, being as big an AFI fan as a dwarf rabbit can be.
