We finished Pusher II last night, and although it differed from Pusher somewhat in nature and in speed, we definitely liked it. Whereas Pusher is all anxiety and nerves, Pusher II is all emotion and frustration. While I don't want to spoil either for anyone who hasn't seen them, I'd also like to point out that Pusher II has a much clearer ending than Pusher -- something on which, to my amazement, Pete and I can't agree. If any of you have seen Pusher, let me know what you see happening to Frank. Although the ending is (probably) deliberately left a bit vague, I think it's pretty clear what happens to him; Pete says not to be so sure -- of course, Pete is an optimist and I'm not. I think that the fact the last few minutes of the film are edited differently than the rest (to show action happening elsewhere, of which the main character is not fully aware) indicates how things end up -- maybe I'm wrong. Thoughts?

In any event, we were blown away by Pusher II. As Pete put it, "Le Chiffre is a good actor." And how! We barely spoke while watching it (although I did let out an "Oh my God!" now and then), it was so depressing and frustrating -- just how bad can Tonny's life get? Pete was itching to see Tonny go crazy-go-nuts against virtually everyone else in the film, and although I was dubious about that happening given how low Tonny is beaten, that's what I wanted to see as well. I obviously don't want to ruin this for anyone, so I'll stop here and say this: SEE IT!
