501: "It's the Miami Sleep Machine"
So life with our white-noise-sleep-machine-thing has been pretty good. We've been sleeping well, but not nearly enough.
Given that we're supposed to be responsible adult types, we shouldn't be getting around to thinking about going to bed so late after midnight during the work week. We ought to be eating well-rounded meals and watching depressing network news coverage of disasters. Of course, we're not doing any of these things -- we're far too busy watching violent movies and imitating the celebratory dances of football players following a touchdown. If we were the kind of people who owned a real sofa and not the strange little Scandinavian solid-piece-of-foam-furniture-module we do own, we'd be dancing on the cushions like we're home alone and no one can yell at us. When little kids call me "Miss" or "lady," it takes me at least sixty seconds to realize I'm being addressed. We're not adults here. We don't know when it's time to go to bed!
Despite the fact that we don't get our eight hours' worth of rest, we're getting quality rest regardless. That sleep machine knocks us out in such a profound way, that if I didn't like it so much, I'd be completely terrified by it. I can't remember what I dreamt last night, but it featured the Damned -- on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being Rikki Lee Travolta, and 10 being Ricky Gervais), I'll give that like a 6 or a 7.
