184: Apartment Update

The apartment is basically finished. Well, with the exception of a few things like framing things for the wall and Pete's office which is in a state of semi-extreme chaos. We've been working so hard for the past week, that we've not had any time to relax. Consequently, I have had a handful of freakouts which might have been worse had I not taken time off from the apartment project to shop on Sunday.

I bought one black Western-style shirt with long cuffs, one black zip-front jacket, one black tanktop with sheer details, three black bracelets, two green bracelets, one black-and-white checkered belt, and one pair of skull-and-star shoelaces. I don't really know what I was thinking, and maybe it's time I start shopping for real clothes in real stores. Or, maybe not. I don't think a new, real belt would make me nearly as happy as any of the semi-useless belts I already own.

Chris is understandably appalled, because he's style-conscious but I operate under the misguided assumption that I am blazing my own fashion trail. You know, in that pirates-and-veggie-punk-cute-sneakers way. Whatever. I think too highly of myself to really be bothered worrying about how I'm being received in my free time. During work hours, really, I have no idea what I'm wearing or why. Outside of the office is the place and time for dressing like the fool I am. And by fool, I mean still better than everyone else.

In any event, I am happy to see the apartment coming together because this means more time for shopping -- possibly under the keen tutelage of my brother, who is the best shopper I know. I am in the mood to throw away everything I own and buy new things, and Chris is the kind of person who supports these inclinations. Clothes - yes. Reality - no.
