103: HALLOWEEN RECAP
"Oh! Your hands are so SOFT!"
As predicted, our costumes RULED YOU. Rather than going to the Toshi party we'd planned to go to, we opted to go to M1-5 and have a slightly more low-key evening... OF RULING YOU.

As we got out of the cab, we saw a guy and a girl sporting excellent Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega costumes, respectively. They seemed pleased with our costume choice, although we neglected to go over and receive their praise in person. Instead, we headed directly to M1-5 where we spotted Joe outside. I decided to introduce myself because I wasn't sure he'd recognize me in my costume. Similarly, I'm not sure Chris and Loren recognized me as I walked across the bar to say hello to them. Given the expression on their faces, they didn't know it was me until I charged head-on through a game of pool and said "Hi." You may assume that it was my eyepatch which caused me to blast through the crowd of billiards players as if I didn't see them; the truth is that I did see them and as usual, I simply felt people ought to get out of my way.

We had an excellent time, and met lots of friendly people. We met only one "Beatrix Kiddo" and she was nice enough to make some photos with us. Special thanks to the girl who grabbed my hand and with an irrational sense of joy, and gave me the title for this entry. And no thanks at all to the nerd who tried to steal my sword. When I hissed at him that he should die, I think he may have wanted to do just that. Overall, everyone was super-nice, particularly the ladies in the restroom who volunteered admissions of just how much my costume ruled them. And a particular lady who found me after I left my pirate bag of makeup in the restroom by accident (thank you!).
After leaving the bar, Chris, Loren, Pete and I wandered around looking for a place to eat. Outside of one place, a bouncer asked if we were on the guest list although the night was long over and finished. Although he was just doing his job, he received a "Pfft! WHATEVER" as we turned and left. We ended up eating in a diner, where I refused to lift my eyepatch for fear of discovering mascara smudges underneath. I learned that Loren is an incredible human being because, among other things, she knows that Christian Bale RULES all of us (even my costume) and she is a fan of both Swing Kids AND Newsies ("it's like Swing Kids without the Nazis"). I believe this makes us BFF, officially.

As Pete and I walked east in order to catch a cab, there was no shortage of people still eager to be RULED by us. Predictably enough, we were a hit with bouncers stationed outside their places of employment -- don't all bouncers love martial arts movies? Less predictable was the middle-aged couple in a minivan (what were they doing downtown so late at night?) who said they'd rip out my other eye (Aww!).
Sunday was spent sleeping, although not due to hangovers as the drinks were weak and we were not. We returned the DVD of "28 Days Later" which ruled no one at all... ever. I like that in addition to finding flaws in the movie, Pete and I were also inclined to list the ways we would have battled zombies. Because that could happen. And we would RULE THEM.
