101: "These are a few of my favorite things..."

The Warrens.
A husband-and-wife team of ghost hunters -- whether you believe them or not, their accounts of various hauntings (including the infamous house in Amityville) are pretty entertaining. I am particularly fond of the Smurl family's story, the scary doll Annabell (above) and the more recent cases -- one of which happened in my hometown. Nice! The Warrens tour and lecture about their experiences, and they'll help you exorcise that foul-smelling demon pouring blood down your walls and waking you up with frightening pig grunts in the middle of the night. Lovely!

The Manson Family Murders.
This site is a navigational nightmare and you may find yourself having to highlight text in order to read it, but the information is excellent and the crime scene photos are even more excellent. You know,... in a totally disturbing, will definitely ruin your ability to ever eat again, "is there no good in this world?" kind of way. This may not be suitable for work. In fact, don't look at it. Nevermind.

Crime Library.
Ahh, the Crime Library. These accounts are not very well written, but it's the content that makes reading them worthwhile. Well, "worthwhile" if you like cannibals, serial killers and other frightening people. And I do. Oh man, I REALLY do.

Byberry State Hospital
I am infinitely interested with Byberry. An abandoned mental institution in North Philly - the web is littered with "urban exploration" sites about this place and you can see why! Click here to read about its notorious history, and here to see some photos. As a word of caution, some of these sites have annoying popups but most have interesting photos and maps.

Another Byberry site.
And another...
And another!
