85: "and a big 'boo' for security."
It was a busy weekend for those of us who are awesome and saw both Morrissey shows at Radio City Music Hall (a fascist police state).

Here's what they're saying on Morrissey-Solo dot com...
Although last night's show ended on a sour note, it was overall a better performance than Saturday's. Though the setlist was similar, it was infinitely tighter on Sunday. Morrissey interacted with the crowd more, and everyone seemed to be more enthused.
Something about the venue was annoying and stifling, and the security was ominously strict. Although some overjoyed freak accidentally knocked Moz over last night, the number of stage-runners on either night was shockingly low. The person most annoyed by this was evidently Morrissey himself, who watched as a fan was shoved back into the audience before even getting a foot on stage and announced that it was "absolute $h*t." As he prematurely exited during the encore (the always awesome "There is a Light..."), he muttered that the audience should 'boo' security, which it promptly did. The unfortunate result is that the backup band had to exit the stage to the sound of booing, and that we all left on an unpleasant note.
Pete, of course, made the point that security was only doing its job. And although I agree and it's annoying that a few self-important people assume their need to give Morrissey their frightening love note in person is more important than the chance they could ruin the show for the rest of us, there's something unpleasant about how restrictive the venue and its security was.
Skimming the Morrissey-Solo threads on the shows, I am more annoyed at the "fans" than at the security. In particular, it's annoying how people fantasize about how they suddenly connected with Morrissey as they ineptly fling themselves at him like dying fish. They mistake his being startled, annoyed or pitying for giving them a look of understanding, appreciation, and love. Uh... no. We all saw you try and fail. We all saw you fall flat on your FACE and we laughed. Get up, hug him, and leave. Do not scramble to get up, fall before you even get within 10 feet of him and then leave us with a 500-word rant online. Get over yourself!
That goes especially for the girl who FULL-ON STALKED ME IN THE LOBBY! Not only did she stupidly make her dash for Morrissey when the show was OVER, she had to let the world know she's insane by spelling it out for us in a post. Ugh. Just go away. Or at least stay away from me. Freak.
In any event, it was awesome and Morrissey was awesome. My favorite moments include Nancy Sinatra being in the audience, the Unsolved Mysteries plug, and Morrissey quickly sucking-in as the spotlight unexpectedly came on after he had tossed his shirt into the audience. I was especially pleased to hear "There is a Light...", "Now My Heart is Full", and "How Soon is Now" on both nights.
We did not see Chloe, although I have confirmation that she was there. Also rumored to be present: Michael Stipe, Conan O'Brien, and Jared Leto.
Ah, but of course Pete and I were the real celebrities spied -- hands-down, the best-dressed fans in attendance. No contest!
We spotted Superfan(tm) Julia Riley and her entourage outside Radio City on Saturday. She was holding court with that moon-faced guy with the 4-inch tall quiff and (evidently) a lot of free time on his hands. He appeared to give me the nod, with a look like I should feel flattered by his acceptance. He gave me the same salute when I saw him in the lower-level lobby on Sunday night. I hope he received my message: BEAT IT, KID! As for Julia, she stood smugly at the stage on both nights in frighteningly hideous outfits. Am I mean? Yes. But I'm honest. And you love it.
How old is she, anyway? She seems to be way older than I had assumed she was.
Also spotted outside: That Irish girl with the pompadour. The one from the documentary. What's her deal? She seems allright.
The weekend in sum? Excellent. EXCELLENT!
And now it's back to the unpleasant reality of work and being surrounded by people incapable of appreciating my look. I remain, as ever, smug. Smug like Julia Riley. But, you know, with cute hair.
And for those of you who take this all too seriously: Lighten up, I'm only kidding. Well, not about my hair.
And on an unrelated note: We saw Rupert Everett in the Village on Sunday morning. He seemed to be wearing makeup. Discuss!
