82: Chloe Sevigny is the new Julia Riley

Courtesy of Morrissey-Solo dot com

I have never felt positively or negatively about Chloe Sevigny, which is odd because I have an opinion about 99% of all people, everywhere. I am pleased that she's a Morrissey fan. She should be. Where she falls short with me is that she sometimes dresses like a crazy old lady, but she makes up for that by having an exceptionally difficult name to spell.

So she made it on stage at Asbury Park, and of course someone on Morrissey-Solo had to get their quiff in a wad about it. Why does that site attract so many jealous nuts who may be mistaking their Morrissey obsession for his undying affection? Evidently, the show was interrupted by numerous other fans getting on stage but isn't that what you expect/want at a Morrissey concert? She gets singled out because a) she's famous, b) she touched him, and c) everyone is jealous that Morrissey recognized her. Although Julia Riley is famous due to her Morrissey-love, isn't this a similar situation where fans' fixation with Morrissey turns to irrational jealousy?

For the uninitiated, Julia Riley is a Morrissey/Smiths super-fan who (apparently) saw him at every venue on his last tour. She also runs a fanzine, and is thanked in the liner notes on You Are The Quarry. She is also trashed constantly on Morrissey-Solo dot com.

There are highly conflicting reports on her behavior, personality, and grooming. All that any of us know is that she loves Morrissey and has the means to see him whenever, wherever she can. Maybe some people are jealous that she can devote her time to this, but I think the majority are a little weirded out by it. What really gets to people is that Morrissey not only acknowledges her, he often goes out of his way to speak to her at concerts.

Suppose he ignored her -- wouldn't everyone think he was awful and unappreciative? Also, perhaps he's flattered or touched. Who knows? People act as if Morrissey has only so much room in his heart of people, and that Julia Riley is taking up more than her fair share. Morrissey doesn't even KNOW YOU, nerd. Why act like jealous exgirlfriends? Pathetic.

I don't hate Chloe Sevigny and I don't hate Julia Riley, nor do I understand why anyone else does. You can be weirded out by Brown Bunny or get annoyed by seat-stealing, but don't hate either girl because she gets noticed by Morrissey. What have you done that's so much more worthy of his attention? Read my blog at work? Well, actually, maybe that is worth noting.

My point is don't be so jealous of them.

Be jealous of me! ha ha!
