43: Anarchy in the City, Part II

I spent lunch running a work-related errand and getting myself some lunch. The streets are basically empty and quiet, which is lovely. Sadly, Whole Foods was also pretty empty. That's surprising because it's so near the Convention and it's so... non-conservative, or something. And it's sad because I love Whole Foods with all of my little, black heart. Well, with the part that isn't occupied by Pete. Or pirates. And people getting kicked in the throat.

I must commend the Police for doing what appears to be a good job of keeping things safe and orderly. That said, I did manage to scuttle my way, pigeon-toed, through not one but *two* areas I probably shouldn't have been allowed to enter. Perhaps I looked unthreatening, but this just confirms that little gloomy girls shall inherit the Earth!

I was also pleased to see a shocking number of protestors sporting all-black ensembles (and in this heat!) and step-cuts. This reminds me of the night shortly after Sept. 11 when I stood outside Ulana's and a girl collecting money for the Red Cross yelled: "Show everyone that Goths have a social consciousness, too!"

Edited to add: My dear little friend Launch has gone out of its way to make an uneventful workday fairly awesome. It's like a non-stop Sisters-fest over here! I love Floodland and if that's a crime, well, at least no one got hurt.
