19: Birf'day updates

On Thursday, my actual birthday, I ate steak frites with Pete and received tickets to the ballet. Pete gets points for being unintentionally romantic and sentimental by accidentally bringing me to the same restaurant in which we ate last year's birthday dinner.

On Friday, despite my boss' best efforts to make me miss my own birthday party, I met with Chris and Pete and others for drinks downtown. Chris gave me the first season of ATHF, which was much appreciated.

Saturday was spent sleeping and watching Mean Girls, and then a hockey game during which I gave myself a pedicure.

Saturday was also Morrissey's birthday.

I am deflated that he didn't tape any performances for the much-hyped (mostly by me) Late Late Show. Unacceptable!

Equally depressing is the sense of doom surrounding my parents' gift -- a pink orchid. People visit my desk daily to see if I've accidentally killed it yet (thanks, guys). Perhaps this is why my parents gave it to me -- they knew it would cater to my love of beauty and DEATH! I find myself coming to work with an even heavier heart -- stressed by work and the possiblity that I will walk in and find my plant's brittle corpse on my desk!
